The point here isn’t about achieving 100% of the challenge you chose. Each of us is different and has different circumstances. Some challenges are harder than others for some. The key is try your best to do what you can for each challenge and be proud of yourself for whatever outcome you’ve reached because every effort and success no matter how small is better than none!
For this month, here are three suggested challenges for us:
- Mind: The Gratitude Challenge
- Body: Plank Challenge
- Money: Gold Coin Challenge
Mind: The Gratitude Challenge
It’s easy to get caught up with everyday stresses and worries and not see that though not every day is good, there is something good in every day. This mind challenge is a simple yet effective exercise to train our brains to see the positives in our lives.
At the end of each day, write down three things you’re grateful for. Instead of just listing it, include the details such as the what, why and how. Here’s an example:
I’m grateful for the beautiful weather today because it allowed me to spend a wonderful time in the park reading a book by my favourite author.
I’m grateful for my kind and ever-positive colleagues because they made my every day work environment pleasant and I learn so much from them every day to take things in stride.
I’m grateful for my healthy body because I get to go for runs and bushwalking – two of my key passions in life. This in turn helps me to de-stress and stay positive.
Body: Plank Challenge
This body challenge comes with countless benefits, such as a toned belly, reduced back pain, flexibility, better mood and improved posture & balance. To top it up, you can do it almost anywhere as it doesn’t require any special tool. All you need is yourself! 🙂
For 30 days, aim to do plank pose each day for the suggested duration below.

- Step 1: Get on hands & knees. Begin on your hands and knees on the mat, with your wrists directly under your shoulders.
- Step 2: Extend legs. Tuck your toes under and extend your legs straight out behind you, one at a time, keeping your arms perpendicular to the mat.
- Step 3: Look straight down at the floor, keeping your neck aligned with your straight spine.
- Step 4: Pull in abs. Pull your abdominal muscles in so your hips don’t sag, but don’t allow them to rise up, either.
Tip: Ask a friend to look at your pose or Look at your reflection in the mirror. Your body should form a straight line from your heels to the top of your head.
- Step 5: Hold pose.
- Step 6: Release pose. Release the pose by dropping your knees to the floor.
Money: Gold Coin Challenge
I’m a big believer in a little a day goes a long way. Saving money doesn’t always have to incredulously painful or difficult. Join me in starting small via this money challenge!
Each time you come into a gold coin or a coin denomination of your choice, squirrel it away. At the end of the month, put the money into your savings, use it to buy something you like or donate it to charity. 🙂
